Ana Bekoach ,One of the most beautiful and well-known liturgical poems is "Ana Bekoach", a piyut (Jewish liturgical poem) with immense spiritual significance. Its origin is attributed to the Tanna (Mishnaic sage) Rabbi Nechunya ben HaKanah in the Middle Ages, and it was composed within the Ashkenazi Kabbalistic community.
Despite its ancient and specific roots, Ana Bekoach became a beloved and powerful text that spread across the traditions of many Jewish communities. It is recited on various occasions due to its spiritual intensity.
The prayer consists of seven lines, each containing six words. According to Kabbalistic tradition, the initials of these 42 words form one of God's sacred names — the 42-letter Name. Therefore, it is customary to conclude the recitation with the verse:
"Blessed is the name of His glorious kingdom forever and ever", and to stand during its reading.
