A Ring Inspired by 19th-Century Jerusalem. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, images of Jerusalem were widely used to decorate home walls, ornamental textiles, books, and even seals. These seals, crafted from various materials, were used to authenticate documents on which they were stamped. Most seals were equipped with a handle for easy use, while some were designed as personal signet rings worn on the finger.
Signatures of Jerusalem rabbis, adorned with images of the Western Wall, often appeared on official documents related to Jewish communal life – such as letters, marriage contracts (ketubot), or certificates issued by emissaries (shadarim) who traveled abroad to collect funds in support of Jerusalem’s residents.
This unique ring is inspired by a 19th-century signet ring from Jerusalem. The original ring is made of hammered silver and bears the engraved word "Yerushalayim" (Jerusalem).
A moving and meaningful piece of jewelry – perfect for lovers of Jerusalem, and not only them!
